Prenatal & Postnatal Classes and Workshops
MOST OF OUR CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS ARE HELD ONLINE, BUT WE ARE HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE THE RETURN OF SOME IN PERSON CLASSES AT OUR TORONTO AND YORK REGION LOCATIONS.
If a class is NOT online it will be CLEARLY marked as such.
Our online classes are held virtually, but are live-taught (never pre-recorded!) and interactive, making them as close to the in-person experience as possible.
At West End Mamas in Toronto and Newmarket, we understand that time is precious. Our clients are looking for personalized, high-quality classes on all aspects of motherhood: from prenatal education, to fitness and yoga; from breastfeeding, to any number of mom and baby classes and parenting workshops. Our classes have been carefully curated to respond to the needs of our clients. Class sizes are small, reasonably-priced, and all of our classes and workshops are taught by highly trained instructors.
West End Mamas is the village you’ve been looking for.

Baby Sleep Solutions: How to Get the Sleep You All Need
Sleep. We all know it’s important. We all do it every day of our lives. Yet somehow it just doesn’t come naturally for so many babies and new parents, alike.
Why can something so vital be so darn hard to come by? And how can we, as parents, help set our babies up for success in sleep so that everyone can get the rest they need and deserve?
In this workshop, Dr. Denise Gassner will outline for you:
- How sleep is physiologically regulated at different stages of development, and how to ensure your daily rhythms are meeting your child’s sleep needs.
- How to promote comfort and security in your baby’s sleep space so they can transition from wake to sleep with ease.
- How to guide your baby to master their own body rather than relying on external sources when falling asleep.
- How to be clear and consistent in your messaging so your baby knows exactly what to expect.
Our intention in this workshop is to provide a deeper understanding of the hows and whys of baby sleep so that you feel empowered and informed to meet your baby’s sleep needs where they are at.

Newborn Sleep Foundations: Navigating the World of Baby Sleep
As new parents, it is commonly treated as a rite of passage that we will be foregoing at least some sleep while we adjust to life with a little. This is a given. But no matter how much you prepare mentally for this stage, it can come as quite a shock when it actually hits.
In this workshop, I will be outlining for you:
- why sleep is so critical for your newborn and how it is internally regulated,
- how you can set up a sleep-promoting environment for your baby based on what physiological cues your baby’s brain and body are searching for,
- where to focus your undoubtedly limited energy during these early months
- how YOU can get your best post-natal sleep
I will help you develop a deep appreciation of your newborn’s internal landscape when it comes to sleep and how you can use this understanding to lay a solid sleep foundation for your entire household.

Surviving Sleep Regressions
We think it’s safe to say that every parent becomes increasingly wary of those dreaded sleep regressions. Just when you thought you had a handle on this sleep business – your baby has started to string together some longer bouts of sleep, there’s more of a rhythm emerging in your day, there’s less overall resistance, and you are getting just a few more juicy hours of sleep for yourself – BAM! the all night wakings, struggles to initiate sleep, and complete lack of schedule coming stampeding back into your life.
In this workshop, we will be outlining for you:
- the key developments that almost ALWAYS wreak havoc on your baby’s sleep (also known as the 4-, 8- and 15-month sleep regressions),
- age-appropriate daily rhythms to set you and baby up for success in sleep,
- strategies for responding to sleep resistance proactively instead of reactively,
- how to be clear and consistent in your messaging
These stages are hard, no doubt about it. But our intention in this workshop is to reframe these sleep regressions through a deeper understanding of why they are happening in the first place so that you feel empowered and informed to meet your baby where they are at.
