Eating For Two: Nutrition For a Healthy Pregnancy
Eating well is one of the best things you can do during pregnancy – and it doesn’t need to be complicated!
Join Dr. Alexsia Priolo, Naturopathic Doctor as she takes you through how to nourish yourself and your growing baby throughout each trimester. Dr. Alexsia will help you understand the importance of macro and micronutrients and how to choose the best sources. She’ll guide you through caloric and nutritional changes throughout each trimester. Lastly, she’ll discuss common pregnancy concerns, and how to approach them from a dietary perspective.
Cost is $49+HST. This class is 90 minutes long to allow time for questions and discussion following the presentation.

Dr. Alexsia is a Registered Naturopathic Doctor who specializes in perinatal health and wellness. She’s here to support you and your well-being through each of life’s beautiful phases – from menstruation and fertility to pregnancy and postpartum – and all moments in-between! She believes in the ‘keep it simple” principle – the most effective tools in the journey to better health are nutrition, formation of healthy and sustainable habits, and acupuncture. If you are ready to take action and finally invest in yourself, Dr. Alexsia is here to make sure you’re living and performing at your highest potential.
Tapping into a foundation of nutrition, a balanced lifestyle, and the practice of acupuncture, Dr Alexsia works with her patients to not only navigate symptoms but also uncover root issues and overcome health challenges to live a radiant, vibrant life. Using a blend of clinical research and experience, she sends her patients home with a plan that is sustainable for their often-busy lifestyles. She works integratively with her colleagues at West End Mamas for many perinatal health conditions to treat the whole body, not just the symptoms you’re experiencing. She has also done extensive research on conditions such as PCOS, Diabetes, Hypothyroidism, Uterine Fibroids, Endometriosis and more so that she can assist you with living your full, best life.
At home, Dr Alexsia is exclusively known as ‘Mom’ to her little boy Nico. As a mother, she knows how important health and nutrition is for a growing infant and has additional experience treating babies and children. Her approach to pediatric Naturopathy is gentle, focusing on compassionate care that benefits the entire family. She’s here to help parents achieve their goals for their children, whether that’s helping them transition to solid foods, or treating a stubborn case of eczema that just won’t budge. Whatever the case may be, her mom instincts are on ‘high-alert’ and she’s happy to help!
Dr. Alexsia holds her license with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario, and is a graduate of the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM). Prior to her studies at CCNM, she obtained an Honours Bachelor degree in Biology from York University. She is a member of both the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors and Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors.

- Teddie Buchner (she/her)Adult & Pediatric Occupational Therapist
Teddie is an Occupational Therapist with a focus on pediatric and maternal health. She is currently working towards her PhD in Occupational Therapy, focusing her research on maternal and infant mental health and attachment.
Teddie has worked as an occupational therapist in community mental health, school-based, and outpatient pediatric settings, eventually specializing in pediatric mental health and developmental trauma. Teddie has experience she addressed orthopedic and orthotic needs, environmental modifications, adaptive communication, sensory processing challenges, visual motor deficits, community mobility needs, work ergonomics, wheelchair seating, and supported employment efforts.
Teddie has served as a Clinical Educator for four graduate OT programs, and has held a faculty position, teaching and serving as the academic fieldwork coordinator at Grand Rapids Community College. Teddie also managed Saskatchewan BlueCross Life and Disability department, providing education to the insurance company and employers regarding the impact of mental health in the workplace, and influencing recovery trajectories to enable members to successfully return to work after illness or injury.
Teddie carries the designation of Qualified Mental Health Professional. She is thrilled and excited to bring her many years of experience to the families at West End Mamas to help with both their occupational therapy and their mental health needs.
