Postpartum

Taking Care Of Yourself Is Good Parenting

Congratulations, you had a baby! While becoming a mother is an incredible experience, once the euphoria of the birth wears off, you may begin to realize what a toll the pregnancy has taken on your body. That’s okay. We get it. And we can help.

Your body is an amazing thing, especially in its ability to recover and restore. All it needs is the right kind of convincing. The West End Mamas postpartum treatments help alleviate the pain of childbirth, bring your core muscles back, and encourage long-term wellness using your body’s natural abilities.

Don’t worry if your child is no longer a baby. For West End Mamas, once you’ve had a baby, you’re considered postpartum....forever.

Postpartum Services

Relieve postpartum pains, access a lactation consultant or parenting coach, restore your core, and revitalize your whole spirit.

Acupuncture

Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture balances the body’s systems to achieve overall optimal health. During your postpartum months or “fourth trimester”, acupuncture can relieve tension, assist with sleep, encourage healing, decrease postpartum depression, and help increase milk production. Acupuncture is the process of inserting tiny needles along energy lines in the body. Since it is complementary to other treatments, you can combine acupuncture with any of the other services we offer at West End Mamas.

Homeopathy

The transition from pregnancy to motherhood is filled with expectation. Homeopathy can ease your sense of overwhelm, decrease pain and inflammation, and encourage your physical and emotional healing so that you and your baby can find a natural rhythm together. Homeopathy can also help restore your body to its natural state during your postpartum period and throughout motherhood. Homeopathy is based on the principle of Like Heals Like. Since homeopathy works with the body as a whole, it is a perfect addition to any health regimen, balancing your body while uncovering and healing old wounds or disease. West End Mamas homeopathy treatments are also integrated with mindfulness practice and complementary to any of our other services.

Chiropractic Care

Recovering from labour isn’t always easy, especially since you now have a little one to take care of all day and all night. If you're experiencing the dreaded breastfeeding hunchback, or low back pain from hours and hours and hours of sitting and bouncing your baby, or have any other kind of discomfort, we can help. Chiropractic treatments in the early stages of postpartum will help your body quickly recover from labour and pregnancy. But don’t worry if you’ve waited longer to come in. Postpartum chiropractic treatments help reduce pain, increase mobility, and help you feel like a normal human being again, no matter how old your child is.

Lactation & Breastfeeding Support

Breastfeeding can be complicated. Both you and your baby need to learn a new skill overnight, and if it doesn’t happen quickly, the frustration is literally scream inducing. Regardless of whether this is your first child or one of many, you are not alone. Whether it’s a milk supply issue, tongue-tie, or a problem with her latch, we’ll look at your technique, discuss your options, and figure out your next best steps together. West End Mamas offers one-on-one lactation and breastfeeding support in our office or your home as well as regular breastfeeding clinic hours so you can connect with other mothers.

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

Get your “down there” into shape. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to live with incontinence and pelvic pain as a side effect of motherhood. If you’re experiencing bladder control issues when you sneeze, cough, or in the middle of your bootcamp exercises, we can help. Even if you’ve been doing your Kegel exercises on a regular basis, you might still have trouble with lower back or abdominal pain, discomfort during sex, or a sense that you’re never able to fully empty your bladder. That’s where we come in.

If you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or like you’ve tried everything, we can help. During your parenting coaching workshops, we’ll discuss how you’re adapting emotionally and physically to motherhood as well as sleep issues, introducing a new baby to an older child, making major (or minor) decisions, or anything else you have on your mind.
